What is Ethereum PoW (ETHW)
Important: As per this announcement, Ethereum PoW (ETHW) has been delisted from Bitfinex, ceasing trading on 16/07/2025 at 07:30 AM UTC.
Ethereum PoW (ETHW) is the native token for the EthereumPoW network. The EthereumPoW network is a fork that happened after Ethereum changed its consensus model from proof of work to proof of stake. This event was called the Ethereum Merge.
Notes:
- ETHW was airdropped to Bitfinex users who held an Ethereum balance at the time of the Ethereum Merge, see post here.
- Users that held an Ethereum 2.0 (ETH2) balance did not qualify for this airdrop, since ETH2 already represented Ethereum on the new chain and therefore were not eligible.
- ETH addresses are compatible with the ETHW network. Bitfinex automatically generates the same ETH address for ETHW on the deposit page.
