What is IOTA (IOTA)
IOTA (IOTA) is the first distributed ledger protocol that goes 'beyond blockchain' through its core invention 'Tangle'. The IOTA Tangle is a Directed Acyclic Graph which has no fees on transactions and no fixed limit on how many transactions can be confirmed per second in the network; instead, the throughput grows in conjunction with activity in the network; i.e., the more activity, the faster the network.
To make more reasonable trading prices, all IOTA trading on Bitfinex is in units of Mi (MegaIota) - one million IOTA.
Notes:
- Bitfinex supported the IOTA Network Hard Fork and Stardust Upgrade. The announcement can be found here. The new network will be running the Stardust protocol (IOTA Stardust) while an older version of the network will continue to run the current protocol (IOTA Classic). Bitfinex only supports the IOTA Stardust Network.
- As announced, the Bitfinex IOTA wallet was upgraded on 16th May 2023 and all IOTA deposit addresses generated on our platform before 16th May 2023 00:00 UTC are no longer operational. Customers are advised not to send deposits to these addresses. Any deposits to these addresses may be lost and funds may be unrecoverable. To send any new deposits to our platform, customers must create a new IOTA deposit address.
