To enable Securities trading, you must complete and submit a specific verification form. This verification will enable participation in the secondary market for securities and the possibility to participate in capital raises as an investor.
To start the securities verification process, you must first be a fully verified user on the Bitfinex platform. Read more about the Bitfinex verification levels here.
For individuals
1. Once you have received the full verification status of your account, go to the Verification page and click on “Upgrade to Trade Securities”.
2. You can choose from the available regulators; the default selection is All, which will allow you to trade and participate in all our securities products unless a token has particular country restrictions.
3. Most of the forms will be pre-populated with your data. Check that the information is correct.
4. You need to enter your National Tax Identification Number (TIN). This is a validated field, your input needs to be consistent with your country's TIN format.
If you select the checkbox “Jurisdiction does not issue TINs” your review process may take longer and you may be contacted by the compliance team for further evaluation.
5. Confirm you have read and understood the form in the final checkbox, then submit the form. You will receive an email starting the review process and another email with the approval confirmation.
For Corporations
1. After the entity is verified with full verification status, you should be able to see the “Upgrade to Trade Securities” button which you can select.
2. Declare if the entity is a U.S. person or not
3. Select the entity FATCA classification. Check with your legal team for guidance on the entity's exact case, but as a general guide:
For Business type:
Banks, Funds, or Financial Intermediary: complete Sections 3.1 and 3.2 only; Leave blank Section 3.3.Regular Businesses (Trading, Services, e-commerce, others.): complete Section 3.3; Leave blank Sections 3.1.
4. Select your CRS Classification.
5. Add a controlling person.
6. You need to enter the entity's Tax identification number (TIN). This is a validated field, your input needs to be consistent with your country's TIN format.
7. Sign with the name of the person filling the form, position in the firm and check the signature to confirm.
