Universal 2nd Factor (U2F) is a type of Two-Factor Authentication that adds a layer of security to your Bitfinex account.
To ensure maximum security, it is required that all accounts utilise at least one of the two types of authentications we offer.
Note: You can find instructions on how to configure U2F on your account here.
If you are having a problem with your U2F:
- Check that the browser you are using is compatible with Bitfinex. This information is available on What browsers and operating systems does Bitfinex support.
- You can reset U2F on your account with Bitfinex’s assistance.
Note: However, before we disable your old U2F, we must establish beyond a reasonable doubt that you are the legitimate account owner.
How to reset U2F on my Bitfinex account
To reset your account’s U2F, you can contact Bitfinex Support and specify the reason for the reset. Our team will then contact you with advice on how to produce evidence of identity.
You will subsequently receive instructions on submitting identification documentation to verify that you are the account holder.
